Many of you will remember the highly entertaining talk by Lauren Jacobs called "Woman in the black hole of Swellendam's Gaol and Other Stories" which she gave in August 2022. We found Lauren to be a really engaging speaker.

Well, we have convinced Lauren to come back to talk to us again. Her talk is named "

In this compelling, entertaining talk, author and historical researcher Lauren, will tell stories of yesterday's somebodies. These are individuals who didn't make the front pages of history, but who certainly made some history of their own. From intrigues to sad situations, from scandals to personal journeys.

Come and hear about these individuals who walked the same streets as we do, and lived similar lives to ours. You may end up wishing that you did not know so many of their secrets.

For those who did not hear Lauren previously, here is a brief résumé about her. Lauren is a multi-award-winning author, radio presenter and theologian. She has written five books about different women from history and prefers to tell the stories of the forgotten women who deserve to have their stories told. She researches and develops exhibits for museums, and served as chair of the Friends of the Cape Town Museum for close to three years. She was recently honoured with a heritage award for her work in preserving the stories of women, through writing and her work on Blue Plaques in Cape Town. She holds four degrees across multiple disciplines and is a prolific scholar and academic
