I trust this email finds you well.The second paragraph of the Swellendam Heritage Association constitution reads, in part ''.... to promote the conservation, public enjoyment and understanding of our cultural and natural heritage.'' Bearing in mind the part about natural heritage, your committee is thrilled to announce we have convinced Mr. Tielman Roos of Riversdale to come and address us on the evening of Tuesday the 22nd of August in the Drostdy Schuur.
The title of his talk is ''An Adventure of a Lifetime to Antarctica on a 111-Year-Old Tall Ship'' (See photos below).Tielman is an attorney, now retired, who practiced for 30 years in Riversdal. He is an avid adventurer and keen sailor who has also participated in a Cape to Rio yacht race.
Tielman will share his adventure to Antarctica, on board the Tall Ship, Europa, which will be illustrated with amazing images of the unspoiled beauty, wildlife, icebergs, marine life, and treacherous drift ice of the South Georgia Island, after which they returned via the notorious Drake Passage and Ushuaia, the Southernmost town in the world!
