Swellendam Families Project Update

The Swellendam Families Project currently, proudly, displays 68 family coats of arms along the western part of Voortrek Street.

The last phase will see an additional 30 family crests added to this display, which will complete the project. These family coats of arms have already been designed and are ready to be printed.

HOWEVER, there is a spanner in the works which is holding up the project. The “spanner” being a countrywide shortage of certain sizes of steel square tubing with which to complete the frames upon which these family crests will be displayed. It now seems as if we will only see these crests hung by June or July of this year, which is disappointing to say the least. We apologise for this delay.

Please be assured that these family coats of arms will be hung. Other than the steel shortage, there is no other cause in the delay.

There is however a bright side to this saga and that is, we have been approached by more Swellendammers who would like to join the project. Therefore, we have decided to use this opportunity to construct extra frames (when the steel arrives) to accommodate additional Swellendam families who would like to participate in the project. These will be accommodated on a first come first serve basis until sold out.  The project will then be complete.

Anyone interested in participating in this extended phase please contact Philip Bromley 073 248 3999 or email p.bromley05@gmail.com or Hennie Steyn 082 956 9454 or email flinkskink@gmail.com for details.

Swellendam Families-projekopdatering
