Good morning dear heritage friend.Lekker koud nê?!!We are extremely excited to invite you to a talk by Professor Wessel Visser titled “Social Issues and the Making of a New Racial Order at the Cape 1652 – 1795” on Thursday evening the 23rd of June. We are also extremely grateful to Professor Visser for agreeing to travel to Swellendam and come and talk to our association.Professor Wessel Visser is a senior lecturer in the History Department at Stellenbosch University . In 2001 he obtained his PhD at Stellenbosch University. His research expertise is South African labour and trade union history. He has published numerous articles and has authored books related to this subject
There is no doubt that Professor Visser’s talk will be highly informative as it will illuminate how the landing of the Dutch at the Cape in 1652 changed the racial order and the social issues which existed at that time and how these issues developed up until the Cape was taken over by the British in 1795.
