Swellendam Heritage Association (SHA) Communication.

Hello Dear Heritage Friends,

This is just a short Communication to let you know that your SHA committee is still alive and kicking, and fairly active in the background. We will be ready to resume our Heritage activities as soon as we are safely able to do so. Please feel free to contact any of your Committee members during this difficult period.

In the interim just a few main points:

  • On a sad note we lost a long-standing member and friend, Henri Barry, who passed away on the 5th April, after a tragic accident on his farm Lismor. He will be remembered with much love and respect.

  • The Heritage Association of South Africa (HASA) who were scheduled to hold their Annual Symposium in Swellendam during October 2020 to commemorate the 40th birthday year of SHA is now in doubt, and —-will in all probability be postponed.

  • Our largest project to date, namely the Family Crest Project will proceed as soon as we are safely able to do so. The designs and manufacture of approx. 60 Crests and mounting frames are complete and ready for erection on the Western end of Voortrek Street.

  • Currently our supporting documentation and financial accounts are with our Auditors, BVSA. When the audit has been completed, we intend to distribute our AGM documentation pack to our members, via email, and will request your inputs (if any) and your approvals, also via email.

In following this route, we can stay within the requirements of our Constitution, and maintain momentum on the ongoing saga of reinstating SHA as an NPO with the Dept. of Social Welfare.

We will be relying on our members inputs by return emails to conclude this semi remote activity, thus enabling us to make a successful closure of our 2019 / 2020 financial year.

Kind Regards

Alf Hunter

Chairman

Swellendam Heritage Association.
