A very happy, healthy and successful 2020 to you.We trust you had a wonderful festive season and are bright eyed and bushy tailed to meet 2020 full on!
Your committee is extremely proud to announce that we have managed to persuade Janto Gildenhuys who is a specialist on the Anglo-Boer War in the Cape Colony to come and address us on Thursday evening the 23rd of January. Janto holds a B.Comm (2000), Hons. B.Comm (Business Management) (2002), Hons. BA (History) Cum Laude (2014), M.A. (History) Cum Laude (2016) – all from Stellenbosch University and is a Golden Key recipient (2015).(PS.Golden Key is an academic honor society which recognizes scholastic achievement & excellence among university students). He is currently reading his PhD in history. Clearly, a well qualified speaker.Janto will speak to us  about The War in Heidelberg (Cape) and the impact of the South African War on Cape Afrikaner Identity. At that time all Cape Colony inhabitants were British subjects but many had friends and family in the two republics which were at war with Britain. This was clearly a very sensitive situation, and for us will be a very interesting aspect to be revealed about that war.We hope you will join us for our first talk for 2020. It promises to be an informative and enjoyable evening.
